Electric car? Is it the right time?

IS THIS THE RIGHT TIME FOR 

ELECTRIC POWER?

With gasoline prices shooting high up in sky and availability for it is reducing every time we tank up brings us to a question. Are we ready to buy an electric car?

Well if you own a car already which runs on gasoline power then yes. An electric car would be the ideal option for your daily runs around the city while you use the conventional vehicle for all long drives. 

Most of the people who think of buying an electric car stumble over the obstacle called range. Yes, the range is an issue for electric cars but be assured it will not kill your daily runs. The current generation electrics have a pretty good range of 200kms+ which is good enough to last you a day. 

Worst case? You run out of charge? 

Well, the government and many private agencies have set up DC fast charging set up. The technology has grown such that in an hour you can get 80% of your battery juiced up which is more than enough for you to reach home.

How are electric cars to drive and be in? Well, it's so silent that you would doubt if the engine is running until you check the instrument cluster. They are the easiest to drive around in silence and comfort. Just drive them like an automatic, well they are automatics.

What are my options for electric cars at the moment?

Well being in a country with technology still under development we have pretty limited options. 

Many auto manufacturers have displayed what we would be getting over the years in the AutoExpo2020 held in Greater Noida during February.

The list for electric cars doesn't end here, Hyundai will be bringing in the Nexon EV rival, GWM showcased the ORA R1, KIA is preparing for an electric so are many other companies. This is just the start the future will be electrifying. 

Every single machine mentioned on this list has an ARAI certified range of over 200kms which will not just let to go around for that day but keeps you powered for the next day too. 

People have referred electric cars to be boring. Let me correct you, imagine having 250Nm of torque instantly as you put the pedal down. Yes, you will be pinned to the seat. Yes, it feels like driving an F1 car (that's too much). 

All these electrics surely take a lot of time to charge to max around 8-9 hours on our regular house charger but then we charge them generally at night which time you will be fast asleep.

Well now coming back to question. Is it the right time? Yes, it is for our daily usage. Should we buy them? Yes, it is a lot cheaper than your fuel bills. Electric cars don't require maintenance either unlike conventionals where our major expense be changing parts. Yes, the future is electric. Yes, we are improving on battery capacities. Maybe in the future we will not use Li-ion batteries but we will be having graphene batteries which charge faster and discharge slower.
